Seattle News

After an almost 6 year hiatus from massage therapy, I’m finally returning to the table. In 2020 I chose to go into Emergency Medicine as a Department Technician and worked through the depths of the pandemic in one of Seattle’s busiest ERs. I learned a lot there and found myself constantly drawing on the skills I learned as a massage therapist. I listened in the way we’re trained to listen-with our whole being. I watched subtle signals and anticipated needs. I loved my work, deeply but the work took its toll. I hit burnout like so many of my colleagues. The crush of it all was too much to bear and I didn’t realize it until it was too late.

I earned my Associate’s degree during the pandemic while working full-time nights but I knew full-time work and full-time school wasn’t sustainable. I applied and was accepted to UW’s Anthropology program and I made the difficult decision to leave the bedside so that I could focus on school.

In October 2023, I was hired on at The Little Red Day Spa for weekends where I do relaxation massage. I really enjoy working in this beautiful spa that overflows with incredible art! I didn’t know how much I missed massage therapy until I was back.

In December 2023 I took an Ashiatsu with silks class from DeepFeet Bar Therapy ( the same org that certified me in Ashiatsu in 2016) and re-lit the flame of my love for Ashi. I’ve decided to complete DeepFeet’s Master Training program and will take Ashi-Thai and DeepFeet 2 in April 2024 and DeepFeet 3 in August 2024. I’m also buying a set of portable bars so that I can once again offer full Ashiatsu appointments!

The universe has seemed to support my career move by dumping resources and mentors in my lap! I was able to find an office close by that’s renting at a very affordable rate with another LMT from the spa. Here’s to new re-beginnings and honoring my passions! I’m so excited for 2024!
